Fit in or not?

I think in life, everyone wants to try to fit in - it's a basic instinct of being accepted that drives us to do so. But yet somehow I have this inner feeling of wanting to be known for something good (of course .-.). But yet I don't know what good about me can be used for my urge for people to recognize me. Wanting to fit in but yet stand out - does it become contradicting? Would I be called betraying my own self?

Well, the only reason I can think of of being "famous" is that maybe I'll feel good about myself. Moreover, there'll be people assuring me of that. I mean you can't be otherwise when so many others say you likewise.

Or can you?

I suppose sometimes standing out can be to your advantage, because you can attract certain people's attention without any problems. If you're a tiny little nobody, who would notice you? Right? No matter how exaggerated your actions may be, it'll still be nothing to the other party.

But of course you wouldn't want people to note your every move...

"Code red: Subject is taking a dump."
"Code blue: Subject is farting."
"Code black: Subject spotted spies, hide!"

That was just an exaggerated example but I think you get what I mean.

Equally, if someone can attract "lovers", he/she can also attract them "haters".

But if it were me, I think not? Well, maybe there are people who hate me but I'll never know. Hmmm... Actually, if a person with good traits were to be humble, there ought to be no haters. These "haters" are actually people who are just downright jealous that they aren't good enough. True?

Lesson to be learnt: Be humble no matter what. :D

Just a question:

Is it alright to have a crush (or crushes) but not have to go into a relationship?

Because it sucks like hell.

But I still want to love and be loved.

Bahhhs. Crap feelings! Hmmph!
